MONTEREY, CA – December 7, 2020 - LanguageLine Solutions, the global leader in on-demand language access, today announced it has been “Great Place to Work” certified, making it the only language-services company to receive the definitive “employer of choice” designation.
Great Place to Work is the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience, and the leadership behaviors needed to deliver market leadership and increased innovation. Certification is based on an employee survey that is the most widely taken in the world.
Among the survey’s findings was that 93 percent of LanguageLine employees say they are passionate about their work and believe in the company’s mission.
Receiving “Great Place to Work” certification is particularly meaningful this year, as the survey was taken amid a pandemic when the need for LanguageLine’s services was at an all-time high.
“This has been LanguageLine’s finest hour,” President and CEO Scott W. Klein said. “This is not a moment any of us would have chosen, but we were chosen for this moment. Interpretation and translation have been essential to the health and safety of our most vulnerable populations this year. Our employees have risen to the occasion in unprecedented ways, and this certification reflects the sense of purpose they wake up with each morning.”
In the Great Place to Work survey, employees praised LanguageLine’s steady response to the crisis brought on by COVID-19.
“Long ago, we recognized the need for our services would be at an all-time high during a pandemic,” Klein said. “We created a thorough pandemic plan to ensure business continuity. When we had to send our people home to work, we had that plan in place and our company did not miss a beat. The transition was imperceptible to our clients at a time when they needed us most.”
LanguageLine, which employs more than 13,000 linguists, provides professional interpretation and translation in more than 240 languages. Employees also praised the company’s diversity, training, and work-from-home model. According to the survey, more than four out of five employees said they thought clients would rate LanguageLine’s service as “excellent.” The same number said they were given the resources and training needed to excel in their jobs.
“Our people are the engine of our business,” Klein said. “Our interpreters and translators manage around 45 million interactions each year. They are our heartbeat and the lifeblood of our organization. They help save lives, welcome newborns, ensure justice, and generally offer assistance at moments of great need. If they are happy, our business will thrive. That’s why it was important to us to participate in the Great Place to Work survey.”
This year has been a significant one for LanguageLine in terms of recognition. In January, research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan recognized the company as the top language solutions provider in the world.
“These two very different types of recognition reinforce that what we are doing every minute of every day really matters to those people and organizations we serve,” Klein said.
